a plethora of things-

dirty converse
rusty brunette hair
a smattering of freckles
a brown, button nose

and all the books-
books stacked high
and low
in towers

some about dragons
all about faraway places,
places with happy endings

the summer-
a plethora of things,
of sad things-
but mostly happy.

because we hadn't
learned
what sadness meant yet
