To the Gallows
I can smell the sea
From this damp cell
Trying to reach the window
But the chains stop me
I hear my mates yelling
Cursing out the guards
As they try to rebel
Our Captain sits in content
He was a loud man
Always making jokes
And getting his men gold
But he was quiet in his cell
Not a word from him
Not even a movement
His face was blank
He knows there’s no hope
I lay on the cold floor
Thinking of the fun we had
The tavern w*****, bar fights
And all the stolen gold
The guards start to take the man
They fight back but they know
That there’s no hope any more
It gets quiet as the guard comes to my door
He opens the cell
And take my chains
Guiding me out to my fate
I know how the Captain feels
I enter the blinding light
The roaring of the crowd
The powdered wigs laugh
I’m glad I can give them a show
Walking up the stairs
The rope around my neck
I look to my side
And see my Captain
He gives me a nod
Telling me that it’s okay
That it was a risk we took
To have a rich life
He bows his head
I do the same
But this proud grew in me
Flowing through my veins
I look at the crowd
I smile and yell
You can kill a man
But you can’t kill his spirit
The crowd grows quiet
I smile and look to my Captain
His head was still down
But a smile was shinning
We accept our fate
We accept death
We accept joining Davey Jones
We are pirates
