Trapped
There’s a girl somewhere that’s fearless.
She has a light inside of her that could brighten even the darkest places of the world.
Her energy could ignite a star in the night sky.
Maybe this girl could even fly if the Universe would allow an exception to its rules.
This girl isn’t afraid of love.
She knows that sometimes love is magical,
and that love can be the remedy for anything twisted that life can hurl her way.
She knows that sometimes love might cut her heart into a jigsaw puzzle,
but she isn’t afraid to fill the bathroom floor with tears, as long as she will then be able to fix her thousand piece heart.
This girl can dance.
She can spin on the tip of her point shoe as if she was on a turn table.
When she soars across the stage it looks like her body is being lifted by strings.
Life’s ticking clock doesn’t seem to matter when she’s dancing;
all that matters is her perfect movement.
This girl isn’t going to have regrets.
She isn’t going to let other people paint a label across her forehead.
She didn’t let the pain she felt in high school consume her life.
Instead, she will have a life full of laughing, smiling, creating, and never giving up.
She will leap head-first into turquoise water that glimmers in the sunlight of an exotic place, and she will travel this beautiful planet, being inspired and inspiring as she goes.
This girl looks a lot like me.
But her eyes shine brighter than mine,
Their shine is like the gleam of the moon’s reflection off a lake.
And her skin glows in a way that makes her look more like an angel.
She loves every freckle and mark that are speckled on her body because they remind her that she isn’t a porcelain doll, so perfection is impossible.
But no one actually knows this girl, and maybe no one ever will.
There’s a girl somewhere that isn’t fearless.
And she’s too afraid to be the girl that’s trapped inside her head.
