Anti-Love
What is this thing we long for that we’ve convinced ourselves that we have to have?
“You’re my Ginny Wesley to my Harry Potter, my chocolate to my peanut butter.”
And so on and so forth.
We’re 16, 17, 18 and 19 year old people.
Our lives should not be defined by the one we call “Love”.
Most of us aren’t emotionally ready to be with someone else,
And when we invest all our time and energy to them,
We aren’t practicing dating:
We’re practicing marriage, without the rings or the “I do’s”.
And when those “this relationship is never going to end” relationships end,
you have just gone through what feels like divorce.
So, step back, enjoy the ride.
Don’t convince yourself it means more than when at your heart, it doesn’t.
We have a lot of experience left for us to enjoy, so let us go out and enjoy it. Focus on more than one experience in high school, and find that happy balance between life and love.
