A man can tell a story about a dark and mysterious place
Various creatures and environment make it an interesting case
Hissing and slithering are heard from all around
Each form of life has a shadowy figure and different sound
How daring and bold one must be to enter
Could not imagine being trapped in the center
Plants and trees grow like buildings in a city
Vicious animals, like the tiger, show no pity
Even though it may be lively with colors during the day
When sunset hits, one should find another place to stay
This area is referred to as the jungle land
All ominous, all creepy, no shiny white sand
Not one aspect is the same, each part is rather unique
From the tree bark to the tree top, even the small running creek
Separate plants are filled with a variety of shades and tints, almost appearing fake
Insects use them as food and protection for their own sake
It seems as if all the eye can see is the color green
“Beauty with ugliness,” happens to be the main theme
People ask what that statement is supposed to mean
Simple, the jungle is the most gorgeous, frightening world anyone has ever seen
Branches hang above instead of the pretty blue sky
The sun cannot peep through, will not even try
Along with jungles, comes their weird danger
Around each tree and corner, walks a new stranger
The jungle has been described in many points of view
What really happens in its depth though, no one has a clue

The author's comments:
My poem, "In the Jungle," takes the reader through all the sights and sounds of the jungle. The rhyming scheme makes it very enjoyable to read, and my word choice forces the reader to actually go out and explore a mysterious jungle.
