I feel the leaves
Crushing beneath my feet
As I run
I feel the wind in my face
Hitting like solid ice
As I run faster
I feel the silence of the night
Consuming me with fear
As I run
Stop.
I must stop running.
Stop running faster and faster,
Stop moving,
Stop fearing,
Turn.
I run back
I feel the same leaves
But they are already crushed
As I run
I feel the same wind
But now it moves me
As I run
I feel the same silence
returning from the woods
and I stop running.

The author's comments:
I want this piece to inspire people to stop running from what they fear. I want them to build up the courage, to turn around, and run the opposite direction for a change.People may have fear to stand up for what they believe in, but that fear is better than the fear derived from doing nothing.
