How dare you
Coax my heart with void intentions
Play with it
Grow a tree of hope in it
Watered it so it grew and touched the sky
Then ceased
And watched it fall
A mighty fall with a shattering shudder

How dare you
Drag my heart through the filthy, wretched mud
As if it were some plaything
Some battered toy
An old favorite
There if you wanted it
But ignored for the novelty

You drag it,
My heart on a string
Until it’s caked with grime

How dare you
Touch what could’ve been yours
Treat it less than it is
Bruise
Smush
Nick it

How dare you?
How dare I for trusting you with this,
This sparkling gem,

This heart.

This poem wasn't one that I wanted to write, but one that wanted to be written.
