Corner
For a long time, the world was a disastrous place
For me and my fellow youth I’d like to think
Because plaid shirts and sunglasses like the sad
And follow it wherever it goes
They point
And say
Its’ the world. That’s the world.
And they hold hands. And feel remarkable.
Now me and my fellow youth I’d like to think
Have gotten tired arms from pointing
And are bored at staring at a gray corner
Our palms are getting sweaty
And the plaid is itchy under our arms.
Suddenly someone
In the back of the line with their hair pulled back
No longer cares for the gray corner
And lets go
One by One hands drop down
Like ribbon snipping into tiny beating hearts
Gray is purple, pink, and blue
And they clap. And feel remarkable.
