I See America Buying
I see America buying, things of delight they see,
Those of consumers, each one buying, just to stay current with life,
The companies buying for production to keep up with demand,
The people buying just to show they can control the technological land,
The inventor buying to show what he will invent, the builder buying in his process to build,
The employee buying as he rides underground in a subway, the workman buying as he waits,
The operator’s stuff, the business man’s as he gets up in the morning, on his lunch break, or late at night before bed,
The abundant buying of the boss or of the member hard at work, or of the assistant researching and advancing,
Each buying for only themselves and how it can show off their own progress,
The up-to-date belongs to the up-to-date—the truth, allowing society to be creative, imaginative, and picky,
Buying more stuff to contribute to the continuous items bought.
