They’re fighting for democracy they say.
It’s all going to end soon.
Peace and tranquility,
That’s the goal.
But when all I see is the blood on the streets,
Blood pouring out of the hearts of the broken,
Blood streaming from the souls of the dreamers who see an Egypt with a future,
I have to wonder where the peace will come from.
Will it just fall from the sky?
They keep fighting like mice on a wheel,
Going round and round,
Waiting for the chaos to stop spinning them
Round and round.
Democracy is what they say.
Life, liberty, riots.
But one day it will end.
One day I can see the family that seems so distant.
One day I can be home.
Home is the heart
Is what I’m told.
But when my heart is dying for my country,
Then where is my home?

The author's comments:
Being 100% Egyptian and having my entire family in Egypt makes seeing all the news around me unbearable. The riots, strife, and incessant fighting need to stop. Peace needs to prevail once again in my home.
