My Final Goodbye

Ode to my childhood,
I reminisce on the memories that I seem to remember.
The things that made me mad,
And the things that made me glad.

Visiting the playground every day,
Letting my inner-self shine,
Letting loose and saying “What the hay,”
With the thought that everything was going to be just fine.

Making new friends was easy as apple pie.
Without even attempting to remembering their name.
I reminisced laying in the grass, counting how many different
Animal shaped clouds in the sky.
Asking my new “friends” to join in on the game.

Eight years later here I am now a senior about to graduate from high school.
Everything has seemed to happen so fast.
Back then thinking being a grown up would be so cool;
Now all I want back in the past.
Unfortunately the past is now in the past and it’s time to move on;
It’s time to grown and explore.
One thing to remember is that all of the old memories will never be gone,
But I would still love to be a child once more.
