The Storm
Clear sunny skies prior
then they darken,
the wind picks up,
the sky cracks and rumbles,
a cannon being shot.
The neighborhood becomes a battle scene.
Leaves take to the air wildly,
darting around and around,
twirling towards a tornado.
In the street a river forms,
it charges ferociously down.
The current crashes, washes, and splashes
into drains and rushing currents roar.
In the house,
rain stomps and pounds on the skylight.
Through the walls,
the wind howls,
almost like a ghost.
Out the window,
people sprint to their cars.
The violent velocity of the raindrops,
seem like bullets hailing down.
It all passes and the skies turn clear.
