For My Mom on Her 36th Birthday
We all grow up, sooner or later
It’s not a matter of when, but a matter of how
It’s our choice to be engulfed in fear or hold our heads high as time goes on
Time alone is a scary thing
As it drags on, things happen and people change
But there is one person who stays the same
My mother, the woman who brought me into this world
My mother, the one who comforts us all in hard times
My mother the person who teaches me most
As she steps in to later years, is she scared?
As she trudges on through life, is she excited?
As she is pushed through a new set of doors each year, what does she think?
She’s the one who helps us all
Though rough at times, she is always there for us
In all my life, I’ve never met a more extraordinary person
