When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.<br /> -Jimi Hendrix

We grew
Through deep roots of tree limbs.
Sprouting
Into cylindrical beauty
Our core joins us together.

Until she slices through our being,
Steak-knife style.
Bites a chunk out.
She
Tears my outer layers to pieces
Drops me in the wet grass.
Two halves lay across the citrus field.

I keep my sour eyes ajar
Feeling myself slowly bruise
Into a black pulp from the inside out
As she takes you in her sticky palm
Engaged by your sweetness.

Often we hear about thee average breakup, but not often do we see how our own relationships can resemble non-living objects....even fruit.
