The Man In The Hall

The people mimic the person that walks down the hall.
When he thinks someone is willing to befriend him, they knock down the bridge he has so cautiously built.
Shadows on the walls walk beside the man they have so foolishly underestimated as being a boy.
When he goes home, he doesn't go home to a warm meal. He receives a sandwich and is sent to work under extreme weather.
At night he lies in bed and listens to his mother scream during her nightmares. He closes his eyes and prays to God that this will be his last night in these walls of sorrow and pain.

This poem is put in a man perspective but it is from my point of view. I was brought up in pain and suffering and I thought I should share my story.
