I am trapped in a beautiful prison:
Flanked by the walls of doubt
And bound with the shackles of memories;
These chains draw me deeper into my cell,
Confining me to an eternal sleep
And a dream as sweet as the soil under me.
This cell is all I’ve ever known,
Yet through the window of fantasy
Lies a beautiful city of silver and emerald.
This prison may be all I know,
But I am certain that greater paths lie ahead
Of the door that I closed behind me
Many years ago.
