Barrel Racing

Exciting anticipation
consume both my horse and me
Hot Blood pulses under his hide as we
concentrate on the three barrels.
Like a rocket he launches,
sending us forward
galloping around barrel one, looking toward the next barrel.
Flying lead Change sets us up for
barrel two, hoof-turned dirt jets
from underneath as we make turn two
all focus on barrel three.
Tight turn, then a full stride,
heart-pounding thunderous hooves
create a generating rhythmic cadence, gearing up for a
glorious run home.
