Knowing it's over
Is like fire on your skin
Burning and growing
Until there is no skin at all

Knowing it's over
Is the fire being put out
Ice cold water
Running over the burns
Enough relief
To finally breathe again

Knowing it's over
Is the scars and burns
All over, permanently marked on your skin
Knowing it's over
And the pain is gone
But there will always be something
To remind you
That the fire
Had not won

The author's comments:
This piece was inspired by old friendships that ended badly. Also about my relationship with some of my family members. I hope that when people read this it's going to allow them to realize that if they're strong their fire will burn out.
