Holding On

January 13, 2013

I see the hills to climb
In the distance, so many meaningless
Hills.
Ride the slope, ascending into the sky
Towards the sun
That burns too bright, so bright I cover my face with
A magazine.
Your hand holds mine, and I hold your hand.
I hold onto it like it is all the holds me here.
Because I can feel myself slipping away
Towards the sun
There are too many things that pester me
Each tiny ant carrying away a
Piece of me
And I am powerless to a thousand ants
I cannot fight, all I can do is hold your hand.
I hold your hand.
Clutch it to my heart, breathe secrets to your palm.
For you to close your fist around them and
Keep them safe for me.
