In that situation I was not deft
And now it seems that there’s nothing left
I don’t want to make excuses for what I did at the time
Hurting you was like committing a crime
It hurt me inside to see the tears you cried
Seeing that made me think maybe I shouldn’t have tried
I never meant for any of this to happen
Hopefully we can go back to the way things had been
Now, I could tell you all is well myself
But, I‘d rather have you see for yourself
If you don’t believe me, look into my eyes
And know that I mean it when I say, “I apologize”

This makes me think of a fight I had with my boyfriend recently. It was one of those really bad ones, and we just said things we never ment, and hurt each other. It was awful, and this poem, I dunno, makes me feel better I guess. He and I stopped talking for a few days after that, and only just started speaking to each other again, and reading this gave me the confidence to swallow my pride and appologize. Thank you for sharing this, Ryan! Keep writing, love :)
