The ride
The crowd begins to clamor franticly!
Hard sweat drips off the back of his Herculean neck.
The music wailed like hyenas in the night!
He bawled his firm callused hand into the
Ridged concrete rope and squeezed.
The muscles in his arm bulge and flex.
The smell of cold dirt enters his protruding nostrils.
He is feeling pumped,
He is feeling nervous,
He is feeling excited,
He is feeling ready!
The pressure is on.
The buzzer sounds!
The varmint kicked the dense dirt beneath his massive hoof.
Clouds of dust filled the small compounded pin. He is released!
The bull rocks and spins,
Throwing his enormous body in circles.
He drills his golden spurs in the sides of the beast,
Trying to brace himself for the next surprise.
Heat smolders his face as the work becomes actively intense.
Everything becomes a blur as the bull snorts in disgust.
The buzzer sounds!
The crowd screams and jumps for joy,
He has made it!
He’s done it!
He has won!
But no!
His spurs tangles into the rope,
Like vines twisting up a pole.
The crowd goes into shock!
They rise to their feet,
Eyes bugging out,
Mouths to the floor.
The room becomes silent and chilled.
The bull takes a turn,
Bucking the man to the floor,
His head hanging inches from the
Monsters vast barbed horns!
The crowd gasps!
Just inches from death
The man’s life flashes before
His terror-stricken eyes.
When he is set free!
The bull returns to the pin.
The man springs to his feet.
He waves to the crowd.
They cheer in relief.
He walks away as if nothing happened.
He made the 8 seconds!
He made the finals!
He completed the ride of his life!
