Moments to Cherish
Her little hands cover my finger.
She’s sitting straight up,
with no need of help.
She’s her own little person.
Her bright blue eyes stare at me
and there’s a sense of innocence.
There’s a sense of happiness
that I couldn’t get from any other face.
She has no worries.
She has no cares.
All she wants is a bed
and a warm hand to hold her.
I look into her eyes.
into the never ending stream of thought
on what is happening around her
Then all of a sudden my heart melts.
She looks up at me,
and for no reason at all,
gives me the warmest smile
anyone has ever given.
Her toothless grin,
and the drops of drool from her lip
melt my heart as her face lights up.
She stares at me until I smile back.
These are the moments I live for.
These are the moments that make me happiest.
She lights up my world with one little grin,
and she is one person that no one will dare to hurt,
because I would do anything to protect her.
