Heat Lightning MAG
It was a night that started like any other summer night.
The setting sun casting orange, red and yellow on the clouds,
the echoes tested across the lake,
the blazes burning down to a few bright orange embers.
Then the daylight was gone and the clouds rolled over
and you could hear the rumbles in the distance.
That same shade of orange began to light up the sky
along with streaks of bright purple and cyan.
The colors snaked across the sky
as we watched in awe from our anchored dock,
Its boards trembling
with obnoxious wonder.
The streaks changed to a uniform blue
and struck more often
as the cold rain came down
while the storm began to heat up.
The flood fell faster
and our camp was illuminated
as if we were under
a bright blue sun.
I could see as well that night
as I could in broad daylight
the very next day.
It wasn't so much a storm
but more of a light show.
