How could a person end up this way?

"Please help the needy"

Said in a kind, sweet voice

wobbling over their own footsteps

and acting like pure alcoholics

"Should I even help them?"

Homeless.

As we walk by,

We shake our heads in dismay

"I wonder how a person could end up this way"

Worn out clothes with dirt on head to toe

It's so hard not to stare

Bums.

First you steal a women's purse walking down the street

and next you take an innocent little boy's hat and gloves.

Just get a job at McDonalds for crying out loud.

Anyone could do it, it's not even hard.

Make something of yourself.

Work for a family that you care for and a house to live in.

Hobos.

But in the end they're regular people,

Have the same values and goals as the typical middle class adult.

Trying their best to make a living and have goals.

But coming out with something they never chose.

Beggars.

Kicked out of their homes because mama don't got enough money to support them.

"Is that really fair?"

Just leave these poor people alone.

Stop judging and even teasing them.

Peasants.

Shriek, Sniffle, and Sob,

they all go through.

Waking up on a bridge above Lake Michigan

is the hardest thing to do.

Delinquents.

Being homeless is cheap, with no bills to pay or food to buy.

But no one wants it, it's not ideal.

Like a willow they weep.

But who knows, most of them still steal.

Slackers.

The famous movie actor Will Smith is the same

kind of guy.

In "Pursuit of Happiness,"

he went from a low life with no money or home,

to a responsible adult with a job and a future.

He showed us that anyone can do anything,

as long as they put their mind to it.

Drifters.

Their cardboard will always show hope.

With a couple of words,

God bless you they say.

Maybe now they will be heard.

Homeless.
