A Jewel-Encrusted Sword of Determination
"Anything is possible."
I remember the day she told me;
I was young and
Who was I not to believe her?
Now I know the inspiration she granted me
Was a lie.
Unintentional; oh, I do not blame her
Or anyone, for that matter.
Dreams and hopes and wishes are insubstantial,
Like fog and mist.
Ungraspable, no matter how hard we try
We cannot catch hold
Of a thought.
I know that now.
I do not tell you not to dream;
Dreams are the beginning of reality!
I tell you only to take action.
Some things just aren't possible.
Never will we be able to
Slam a revolving door
Or grow a tree to gift us money and things.
We cannot force variables into being.
But there are things
We can do.
Remember in your next
Hopeless moment
(Let's face it; there will
Be one)
That there are some things
You can do.
But you cannot pray,
Dream,
Hope,
Wish for change.
You must walk out with
Both eyes open and arms
Outstretched.
Grasp your dreams
And slay your goals
With a jewel-encrusted
Sword of determination.
Informal though it may sound:
Get out there and do your thing.
