Fall is here
The leaves beckon me
Come…they whisper
It is silence just loud enough for me to hear
I obey
Outside, I see the leaves depart from their branches
They fly, yellow, orange, and red
For a second, they are birds
Then, I watch them hit the ground like broken dreams
Forgotten
I catch one in my hand and hold it
This one will not fall
I will keep it forever

This is sort of out of season, but I forgot to post it earlier. I like to think it's sort of a metaphor, but can be perceived in many different ways.
