It really is quite normal
It happens all the time.
Never, never did I ever
Think it would happen to me.

Or to us.
Of all people?
Years and years.
Summers and summers.
And now,
just like that.

It’s fact that can’t be contested.
Two different people can be friends,
Opposites Attract, don’t they?
But I didn’t realize just how opposite we are.

You were my best friend.
I told you everything,
You told me everything
Until recently.
And then it changed.
High School changed you.
It changed me too.
But I still wanted to hear,
And you just didn’t want to tell.

And yeah,
It happens in every movie,
Every book.
But I didn’t realize that it actually happens.

Suddenly it’s like it never mattered.
The years of running around my backyard
And running around yours.
And cooking in my kitchen.
And cooking in yours.
And endless venting sessions,
And intense bike trips,
And getting ready for parties together.

I guess it doesn’t matter to you.
So it won’t matter to me either.

You see, friendship is an interesting thing. 
Sometimes it stays,
And sometimes it goes,
and sometimes it moves quickly,
And sometimes it doesn’t move at all.
And sometimes when we need someone, we have a friend,
And sometimes no one is there to help you,
But no matter what happens,
No matter how hard it is
Whether you have someone to handle life with
Or if you’re handling it alone,
You have to deal,
Because sometimes,
People leave you at the times when you need them the most.
