Society influences attitudes towards the substance,
Which in turn affects its availability.
People love it,
So therefore it continues to be produced.

A rush of energy
Flowing in the veins
reaching all parts of the body.

Most people love it,
and some people hate it.
But its results are unanimous:
A quick way to get up in the morning,
Or to achieve the push needed to stay up all night.

It works so well,
That giving it up is impossible.
A cycle forms that can’t be broken
And a feeling of dependency arrives.

Once turns into every morning,
Every morning turns into an addiction.
An infamous one at that.
It’s easy to get caught up in the rush
of Caffeine.

We were assigned to pick a book and use a sentence from it as the first line of a poem. The first line is the sentence I chose.
