The Gem
This world was once a tranquil place
Free of all of its deceit and pain
Yes, it was a land full of grace
But because of a mere gem, that all changed
It held enormous power
That would strengthen the body and mind
But the power would soon grow sour
All because of the curse it did bind
This Gem was forged by the goddess of wisdom
Along with the god of war
To give wrongdoing and hatreds victims
Hope, something they didn’t have before
But Ate wished to have this stone for her own
And when her request was denied
She cursed the gem that which she longed for
And it was tainted with temptation, hate, and pride
Now whoever withheld the stone would suffer a horrible end
For their sprits would be forever changed
Their desire for more power would distend
They would forever be deranged
And because of its power Zeus deemed it unsafe
So he hid it away in a horrible abode
Never to be found by those weak in faith
And to be discovered by those who are troubled so
But one day a lad at the age of 18
Decided to find this cursed stone
For he fell in love with the daughter of the king
Who fell in love with the stone so cold
To earn her love he searched day and night for its location
Only to come up short
Until one day much to his elation
He found the scroll in the deepest valley near the port
Quickly he ran to his love to boast
But much to his defeat
She claimed that it wasn’t worth a petty medal at most,
And asked, “Will you please get it for me?”
So he set out at dawn
To find the precious stone
As the princess’ unknowingly pawn
But soon this was a decision that he would greatly bemoan
After years of searching he knew that he was tricked
And he thought that his life was a waste
Soon damage on her he wanted to afflict
Yes, the princess’ life he wanted to take
Revenge he did seek
And revenge he received
For when he was terribly weak
The gem he finally retrieved
The long journey scared his body and soul
And the princess scarred his heart
Because of these scars, the gem consumed him as a whole
And the gem tore him apart
He returned to his village mentally insane
The princess’ life was what he sought
And when attacked he destroyed all in his way
Soon even the princess’ life he caught
But he didn’t stop there
The whole world soon fell to his feet
Barely anyone’s life was spared
It seemed that all salvation had finally been beat
But the king of his small country was still alive
And world he did plan to save
So the young man’s power he did deprive
But in the process the young man was sent to his grave
The king saw the world so corrupt
So he left it to its fate
But he had to make a decision so abrupt
To hide his seclude kingdom away
Before he left he buried the youth
A victim of deceit and lies
But on his tomb were written word so true
Words to know and live by
Do not be so consumed in emotion
That your demise and others’ isn’t seen
For you’ll cause much turmoil and destruction
And you’ll be wrongfully used and end up like me
Heartbroken and abused all for a gem
