Protection
It’s all you wanted for me
And you tried so hard for me
You wanted me safe,
To have a wonderful childhood,
To not to make the mistakes you made.
You’re protecting me from growing up
It’s a fact of life
I will make my own mistakes
You just have to trust me
Trust, I know best for my self
Truth be told
You’re protecting me from:
A beautiful dieing girl,
Whom I love as a sister.
A sweet young man,
Whom I’ve fallen in love with.
An awesome girl,
Whom I trust inside and out.
A troubled young boy,
Whom I’m there for when I’m needed.
And a caring young woman,
Whom is there for me at all hours.
These are the “threats” you are fighting
They are my hope,
They are my love,
They are my sanity,
They are my youth,
They are my life.
I am sorry to say,
You cannot take them away
If you take them,
You take more than you bargained for.
You may think it’s for safety
It may be for my own good,
But then again it may not.
Protection can be too much
Lately it has been over powering
Protection from love?
Now that is an extreme.

This is dedicated to my parents, although they will never read it. I know they are protecting me because they love me. I love them so much, but I’m growing up don’t I deserve some freedom?
