Bullied
As she walks down the hall,
her private war becomes public knowledge.
Her silent tears allow all to see her pain.
She keeps her head low and eyes to the ground,
yet she still notices the students stop and stare.
She can hear the whispers and wishes to be invisible.
She wants to yell at the top of her lungs,
“I can hear you!”
However, she is too weak and hides her anger.
She keeps walking, casting a dark shadow over the floor.
She looks but does not see, she hears but does not listen.

When she is finally in the enclosure of her room,
the silent tears she leaked earlier become frantic sobs.
The once smart and lively child has been taken over
by a lonely and depressed teenager.
The transformation has left a hole
greater than any kindness or love
could ever fill in her heart
and she wants desperately to seal it.

The idea of going to school leaves her trembling.
She prays tomorrow never comes.
Instead of facing her greatest fear,
the thought of suicide plagues her mind.
She no longer is afraid of taking
the most valuable object she possesses…
Her own life.

She will show them all what they have done to her.
Their hateful words and treacherous antics
she will no longer have to deal with.
The loneliness and pain she will no longer have to feel.
One pull of the trigger, one jump off the bridge,
one loop of the rope and it will all be over.
And all for what?
Because she was tired of being bullied.

The author's comments:
I wanted to write this poem because bullying is a major problem in today's world and I don't feel that people realize just how dangerous it can be. I wanted to show people what can happen when a child is bullied and I wanted to make people realize that bullying is serious and needs to be stopped.
