Nestlings of An Independent Mom
Mom – today is your day of independence
And your children are going to celebrate it jubilantly;
I am, being one of your million babies,
Going to have your blessings,
Touching your feet,
Praying you for what you did
For me and my siblings,
Giving us the lap to sleep in;
We are proud to call ourselves
Your sons and daughters,
And we take an oath, today,
To protect your dignity, respect and culture
Forever we are alive,
We will wash away all the stains and false notions
Which the barbaric people threw on you;
Mom – one day I may leave you
And go far away to the homes
Of many a mothers-in-law but,
I’ll come back,
I’ll mom –
To lift your head high,
To make you feel majestic and,
To bring felicity in the faces of my sibs;
I love you mom, my life is for yours.
