The World Against Me
Today I woke up with the world against me,
But I don’t mind,
Because Today and just for today—
I’m fine with that.
I wake up to a field of assailants,
But I have no uneasiness with me.
I will march forward without so much as a stumble,
For the assailment won’t distress me today.
The Blue Krait will low voice fabrications in the ears of the credulous,
But his venomous attacks won’t impair me.
He will strike again and again while in the cover of the night sky,
But his venomous attacks won’t execute me.
But when the time comes to wake up tomorrow,
I will become completely vulnerable again.
I will lower my head and shield myself—
The best way I know how.
But when I look up and look behind me,
I will find that it’s not just me.
And that I have army full of bishops and knights.
They’re here to fight through the hard aeon with me.
And when the war finally clears,
It is then I realize—
That after a storm,
There is a calm that a waits me.
And that when a door close,
Another one lies open.
And that no matter how a deserted I feel,
I am not in this fight alone.
