If Only Inspiration Would Strike Me
I wish I could be inspired,
And write you something meaningful,
Something for you to quote or say,
Inside your head again and again,
I wish I could hand you a tattered sheet of paper,
Upon which something amazing was written,
That I had spent hours toiling over,
For you to show all your friends,
But I can’t do that; I’m not an artist,
With a pen or a brush,
But above all else I’m not a lover,
Or even a good friend at that,
I wish I could be better for you for your own sake,
And not a lazy loser,
I wish I could be exactly what you wanted,
But I know I can never be that,
I wish I were talented enough,
To craft you something beautiful,
Even though I know I can’t,
You deserve gorgeous things because you yourself are gorgeous,
So I decided to try my best,
And write you this poem,
Even though I don’t think it’s good,
I hope it does not bore you,
I wish this poem were well written,
But I know it’s not,
Unfortunately it’s the best I can do,
I hope you still enjoyed it.
