Smoke on the Beach
He picks up his feet and lets the sand run through his toes.
He puts them back down and stabs them in the ground.
His head falls back and rests on the back of his chair.
To his right sits his closest friend.
They reminisce, catch up and talk about life.
They take slow drags on their cigars filled with rich Cuban tobacco.
They watch the lightning cut through the sky and vanish instantly followed by a thunderous boom.
They sit on the beach they visit so often, kings of the sand and water as far as the eye can see.
The cool wind whips off the ocean and smacks their nostrils with salt and water.
The storm draws closer and the waves recede as if surrendering to the massive storm.
Walking off the beach head, they burn out their cigars and smile.
Two brothers walk in stride, reminiscing, catching up and talking about life.
