Cankles
Since you cannot remember your dreams,
I’ve decided to listen in…
The images as bright and vivid as the moonlight
I could see, hear and feel everything so clearly
Then, I saw you
You we’re carrying with you a huge bag of books
You were running
You were running along the already flooded sidewalk
Rain in April is a kind of promise, and it costs nothing.
Running as fast as you can and never stopping to take a break
No one would’ve ever guessed that you were this athletic
You glance over your shoulder
Slowly slowing your pace as you begin to grow tired
All of that is forgotten though as the giant mass of lavender begins to catch up
You take another glance back and so do I
That red nose
That giant poofy hair, and that evil toothy grin
Enough to make a grown man cry with just one glance
He’s gaining speed now
More and more until the pace of his cankles matches your own
His long, thin arm covered in a horrible pattern reaches out
Now in contact with your shoulder, he latches on
You turn and open your mouth to scream
…Then, as quick as the blink of an eye,
Everything’s gone
But what happened to the canklelicious clown?
