Original Poem
The last time I saw my Dad
His name was engraved on
The wall with other people. What I remember
From his name was that he fought to
Protect his country. I didn’t know that
He was in the military till 10 years old.
I can tell my dad worked hard in the military
Because he looked like he was a captain.
He never told me about his job so I was
Wondering what he did for a while.
My dads friends talked about my dad was
Good at aiming and his ability to wait for long times.
I thought my dad was cool when I
Go to his house but he wasn’t a good father.
When at look at his name engraved on the wall
I see a man who did a lot for his country but wasn’t
Great at parenting. I think that he was cool but in another way
I don’t like how bad of a father he was because he lied to me
Never really told the truth in the first place and is just a jerk.
But he was a good soldier that died for his country so I’m glad
I could call him my dad.
