Rose so pure and red,
Rose so numerous and soft are your petals,
How beautiful your stem,
Reaching up,
Meeting the sun's warm embrace,
Rose,
How sweet your fragrance,
That someone would pick you,
From a field of a dozen others,
But drop you suddenly,
As their finger is pricked by one of your thorns
