Mother Nature has Betrayed Us

The grass was crisp with a wanting and a belonging.
Reaching out and saying:
H…e…l…l…o…
Waving in the wind,
And cringing in the cold-

The winter is upon the little green springs.
Walked over and forgotten, the greenness dies.
Leaving a pale, white ghost of what was.
Brittle.
Lifeless.

Mother Nature has betrayed us,
Leaving us with a black and white scene,
An old decaying snapshot.
But she comes back in the spring with a graceful:
Hello!

The vibrant colors pop out again,
Only to stay until the wind starts,
Blowing the color away, to go to a better place.
