A Week in the Bahamas
The baby Jesus
Resting in his own naivety,
Basking in his own divinity,
Whimpering in the heat,
Nude upon his mother’s lap
Like Bob Barker upon the stage
Calling out each of his
Disciples ‘til there are three,
Knowing them only by their name-tag
and their feeling of connection to him, the lord
Giving them each a chance at the wheel
To do the best,
To shower him with praise, gifts,
Kisses,
To get the price right
And win eternal glory in a book.
That, or a week in the Bahamas.
