Appearances
Look at me now
That I’m free from you.
How do I look
Now that I’m free
From your expectations,
Accusations,
Your abuse, then neglect?
How will I look tomorrow
When I’ve cut my hair
Or wear a short skirt
So all the world can see
The free me?
How will I look in a week
When I talk to people that you don’t like
Or pass a test
When you get a 30?
How will I look in month
When I have new friends,
True friends,
Or a date with the footballer
Who always made you green with envy?
How will I look in a year
When the heart break is gone
And the sorrow has fled
And I finally start living for me
Instead of for you?
How did I look yesterday
With tears running down my face,
Ready to jump for you,
Die for you,
Wanting to understand,
With wings on my back,
But no life plan?
