"Pain is just a simple compromise, so we can get what we want out of it."
~Paramore

A choking breath
A desperate prayer
A sweet memory
A dead man's stare.
An unused bullet
An open wound
An orphan's cry
An endless rest.
We hold these
Truths to be
Self-evident that
All men are
Free to die
In the line
Of self-sacrifice;
To be forgotten
On a list
Of many names.
"Love your country,"
But does your
Country love you?

This is my opinion on war. I understand it is a "necessary evil." But it shouldn't have to be.

This is a very nice read. I love how after "A dead man's stare" the words in the next line are spoke slowly "An unused bullet", it really slows down the reader to help create the imagery. Very dark and humorous, sad and true. I love it.
