People say basketball is just a game, they lack the desire
My eyes do not say the same, lively with a passionate fire
Each time I walk on the court, inside I experience a new feeling
Whether the opponent is tall or short, my effort still hits the gym ceiling
First things first, I come prepared and ready
For the best or the worst, my game stays constantly steady
Tie up each shoe, check every thin lace
Practice like I have to beat you, cannot keep up with my pace
A ball is my most prized possession, the touch of smooth, rustic leather
Sweet shot makes a strong impression, definitely shooting weather
A screechy whistle blows, the game is now underway
Lost in thought from head to toes, attempt to guard me is what I say
This is not just all about me, standing at my side is a winning team
Playing together is our only key, getting better as one is the group theme
Whether it be offense or defense, dribbling or rebounding
A game with us is always intense, fans in our surrounding
We make a correction, during the course of battle
Helping is our student-section, always giving the other team a nervous rattle
With a violent buzzer sound, the event is now done
Our opponent is homeward bound, their night was not fun
Although it is only the beginning of the season, we are anxious for playoff time
Working hard is the only reason, our win total will climb
After my playing days have passed, basketball will still be my friend
The knowledge and skills I amassed, never forgotten until life’s end

By reading "Life's Passion," one is able to see my true love for the game of basketball. This poem should inspire others to play basketball with as much energy and desire as I have since I was introduced to the game as a child.
