"For whatever we lose
(like a you or a me)
It's always ourselves
We find at the sea"
- E. E. Cummings

"There is always light after darkness"

She finds solitude
Between heaving breaths
And fills the cup
Half full
Her brain keeps quiet
And she speaks through
A hollow heart

Familiar fingers
Tug at her fragile bones
And dismantle her barriers
Suffocating her words
With vines and thorns
Her sinking limbs grow frail
Enveloped with snow
And what she hoped for

Bitterly defeated,
She builds walls
Out of the debris
Separating her from reality
And her seeking thoughts
Walking on broken glass,
She wanders on
Half empty

When I write poems, I'm usually thinking about something I can't normally express out loud. I write it out instead. I wrote this poem about what it's like to feel heartache, stress and hopefulness all at the same time.
