High up in the sky on a cold winters day,
A snowflake is formed.
She is small and beautiful,
Made up of tiny crystals,
That glisten as she dances toward the ground.
She moves this way and that,
To the beat of the wind
While she is falling.
She gracefully reaches the snow covered ground,
And sits for a moment.
She is soon swept up by warm hands’
Of kids excited to finally be in the snow.
She is a small building block for a snowman,
That is towering over all the children.
The day slowly turns to dusk,
And the kids start heading home.
She sticks to a little boy’s hat,
And follows him home.
She arrives in a warm house with the scent of hot chocolate in the air.
This is where her journey ends,
It is complete now
As she slowly melts away.
