Every Rose Has Its Throns
You open your eyes,
Hearts melt.
Love songs erupt in harmony,
Lonely souls fall in love.
Your face sings with beauty.
But you have more than one face.
It’s nothing you can escape from,
Those thorns in your side.
They spiral around your arms
Entangle your body,
Infesting your neck with their sickening appearance.
Every time you look down,
You still see the painful memories that scar your stem.
These marks are just a part of who you were.
Spectators of your bud will never touch your past.
The scars scare them.
