Gone.
I remember
How the tears fell,
How the cries roared,
And how a life was taken away
So quickly.
They tell you that being at the wake
Isn’t supposed to be a sad event,
But a celebration of a life.
It doesn’t feel like it.
Almost everyone in the room
Is crying.
The pain you see,
It’s real.
Everywhere you turn,
People are mourning
People are grieving
People are torn.
The room is completely filled.
The atmosphere is heavy,
Almost unbearable.
Tears fall from every face in the room.
They cannot believe what is going on.
People don’t want to believe it.
Someone who was a sister,
A daughter, and a friend
Was gone.
Her life came to a halt
Much too quickly.
People passed by her,
Only to see the image in their mind
Of her being alive and happy,
Instead of the motionless body that they see.
One moment, you wish she was there.
The next, your mind is racing
Through your thoughts, memories, everything.
No one could believe that she was gone.
