Animals
Why do animals exist?
To eat and be eaten,
To help us find the animals in ourselves,
Perhaps.
Looking closer, we're
strikingly similar.
One glance at a great white shark
explains his many scars.
Our scars from our past
guide us through the seas
but we move on,
and turn towards aggressiveness.
It's a game; it's called
Survival of the Fittest.
Then death,
it approaches us--
without the tap of a shoulder
or a heads-up message.
And it's not until then
when we lie down
and close our eyes...
reflect about what animals we've been.
