"Fall Seven Times, Stand Up Eight"

Without all these freedoms
In which the kingdom rose
Lost and unsteady is how it grows

Those whom which are molded to the surface
Cannot enjoy the freedom of movement
For if they had legs to walk and run
They would run and chase the sun
With whom which they would follow around the world
Walking until they could no more

Those whose lips are forever sealed
Cannot enjoy the freedom of speech
For if they had mouths and a voice
They would be heard and have a choice
And with their voice they would speak their mind
Talking until their voice was sore

And even without these freedoms
A kingdom still rose
But lost and unsteady is how it arose

Those who dwell within this kingdom
Are bound to its floors
By their roots and by choice
As for those who have left
Will not find their way
Back to where they once did lay

Those whom which are born deaf
Cannot enjoy the freedom of hearing
For if they had ears to listen
They would have some recognition
They would hear those who are ignored
Listening until they could no more

Those whose eyes are nonexistent
Cannot enjoy the freedom of vision
For if they had eyes that would bring them sight
They could see the bright sunlight
They would watch the sun rise and fall
Looking until their eyes became sore

Without all these freedoms
In which the kingdom rose
Lost and unsteady is how it grows

I wrote this for my First Year Seminar end of my first semester at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania about our last essay which was about trees and how similar they are to humans but how very different they are. My idea is how all those living in this world are similar in many respect yet very different.
