Little kids weren’t lying
About the monster under the bed
Except they got one part wrong
He’s really in your head

Parents were lying
About him leaving when you got older
He just plays games
And his games only get colder

His favorite is hide and seek
You are happy when he’s away
Sad when he’s back
Lasts a minute or more than a day

This game I cannot win
Forgetting may work
For a while, but in the back of my mind
Forever he’ll lurk

I wrote this poem about my feelings against being sad all the time.
